Commemorative Air Force Colonel
Membership is open to all men and women, age 18 or older. You need not be a veteran nor a pilot to join the CAF. Memberships are $160 per year. First year dues are $200 which includes the CAF annual dues of $160, plus a one time processing fee of $40. You will receive a CAF name badge, CAF Wings, commission certificate and membership card. You will also receive the monthly newsletter Contrails, the quarterly magazine Dispatch, free admission to the American Airpower Heritage Museum and a 10 percent discount on purchases in the CAF's Gift Shop. New applications and renewals have the payment option of using a bank draft system, whereby you remit $56 with the application, and your designated bank account will be drafted $16 on the 5th day of each month. As a CAF Colonel, you are eligible to become a member of a CAF Unit or join an aircraft support team. You will also enjoy the privilege of flying in a CAF aircraft on a space-available basis or as a qualified crewmember. Contact Headquarters for information on aircraft sponsorships. The CAF is a non-profit, tax-exempt historical and educational organization. Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Life Member Life membership is a one time fee of $1,960 which can be paid at $200 for the first month and $160 for the next 11 months. In addition to all the above listed benefits a Colonel receives, you will receive Life Member Wings, a Life Member card and Life Membership plaque. Wing, Squadron or Detachment Membership Wing, Squadron or Detachment memberships are entirely optional once you are a CAF Colonel or Cadet, but greatly enhance your experiences with the CAF. Becoming a Unit member puts you where the action is ~ close to th aircraft or their operations. Many Colonels choose to join more than one CAF Unit. Wings and Squadrons are assigned the responsibility of maintaining the aircraft. Detachments are responsible for various disciplines within the CAF, such as Marshalling, Security, Medical or Explosives Ordnance. To be a member of a Wing, Squadron or Detachment, you must first be a CAF Colonel, Life Member or Cadet. Unit membership dues vary depending on the Unit. Average dues are $25 to $50 per year and are paid directly to the Unit. As a Unit member, you may receive additional privileges, such as Unit newsletters or Unit-assigned aircraft crew opportunities. Visit the Wings & Squadrons page for more information on Units in your area. CAF Cadets (Age 13-23) Cadet memberships are $45 per year. You will receive a Cadet name badge, Cadet wings, and CAF T-shirt, monthly newsletter Contrails, quarterly magazine Dispatch, free admission to the American Airpower Heritage Museum, Gift Shop discounts, certificate and membership card. The Cadet age limit goes beyond 18 years to allow college students to participate. A student I.D. is requested for Cadets over the age of 18. Ghost Squadron Associate As an alternative to full CAF membership, you may become a Ghost Squadron Associate for $45 per year.
